Thlayli is the Lapine name for Bigwig, the rabbit Lika is obsessed with from "Watership Down". Unfortunately, finding a picture of Bigwig is next to impossible, so this bunny girl will have to do. Lika isn't shedding any tears over that ^_~

This layout features an original character by Sugisaki Yukiru. She is the mangaka who created D.N.Angel, Kouhosei Megami, Sotsugyo M, and Brain Powered. Sugisaki sensei also seems to have an obsession with rabbits. Unfortunately, this cute snow bunny doesn't seem to have a name. So for now, let's just call her "Jailbait Bunny". ^__^

My cousin is blasting a really good Cantonese CD. Must steal them from him ^_^ I will get to the rest of social blogging sometimes this week. I'm in a ranty mood again.

No, Ragabash, you are not an arse. I had a feeling what you meant was that the ratio of S/S fans in the X/TB community in ratio with other fans was too large for your comfort. And it is for me. Dammit, there has to be more Karen fans out there! So I didn't mind your rant at all.

W2 on the other hand, I might as well reply in quote form. But heavens, when you take something as complex and well-done as the X arc Um, I realise I'm a fan of some the cheesiest Hong Kong movies, but even I know know the X plotline is a mess. I'm in for the characters. You see complex, I see CLAMP-is-making-up-as-they-go-along. If you want to see some bigger picture, a more philosophical story, go for it. I'll concentrate on the awesomeness that is Karen Kasumi. and reduce it without reason more than personal whim to nothing more than light and fluffy happy boysmooching, Perhaps everyone puts WAFF and fluff in for a respite from the (admittedly overdone) angst in the series. you've not only done the work of art that is the series a disservice, you've just about done the equivalent of painting the words 'I DON'T GET IT' in big red letters on your forehead for everyone to see. No, they get it perfectly well. That's why they like WAFF, and why I like WAFF. Because canon is one thing and fanon (What a completely STUPID word) is another. I understand that there is angst and bad stuff in canon. You have to blind to see otherwise. I write an occasional fluffy and happy fic because I want to give the characters a break. I feel like a broken record but I'll say this again: Fanfic is not about being a replica of the canon. It's about the fanficcer working out her idea and feelings about the series. Some are bad, yes, very bad, but even the WAFFy ones can be good. And we must be in different fandoms because I don't see a lot of X Fluff out there. Not nearly enough for my taste (there is a serious lack of Kusa/Yuzu waff people can be writing about.)

Most of us are here to have fun. Don't take it too seriously. I've been on fandoms like X Files and Buffy and it's people taking it too seriously that drove me away from it. Not I don't dislike people who take it seriously. Alison's nuts about the series but she doesn't get all high-and-mighty about it. She's tons of fun to be around and has made the fandom more accessible and enjoyable for all types of fans, from the screamiest of the fangirls to the folks who believe they know the truth and the light of the series.

Wow, that is a *really good* CD. I'm going to steal it from him right now! Wish me luck :D

I love people's comment about Slapped in the Head review site: "I love this site! But I hope they don't review my fic." I wonder if people realise how dumb that sounds. Whatever. As many of you guys probably have guessed by now, I'm not thrilled with the site. I'm not against it, but I find list to the left irritating with them listing what they hate in fics, "Mary Sue" (My own Mary Sue X fic was brilliant XP), "OOC" (Oh, that's a new one), "complete irreverence for canon" (you must be loving fanon). I like their reviews, but list like that get on my nerves. To add to my irritation, they even rated plot, characterisation, and writing.

If my recent fiasco with Moon Warriors taught me anything, it's that you can't sit in front of a movie/fic/whatever with a clipboard and start checking off points for good plot and character. With me anyways. I don't know how the rest of you work. Either I'm moved, or I'm not. Either I like it, or I don't. There are some movies that have really excellent plot and characters and I can't get into them. There are some plots, like Moon Warriors that are poor in plot and set-up, but I adore them.

It is possible for there to be a really good movie with a poor plot. It's possible for a book to have a very tight and original cast of characters and developments but for it to still be lacking some luster. I wish I could give a list of what I think makes a good and bad movie/fiction, but I can't because movies/fiction don't work by formulas like that. Good plot plus good character plus good dialogue doesn't always equal good movie. I can however give you a list of the type of movies I like.

Reviews for me work best when the reviewer goes watches or read the entertainment, then goes and write about it, what she liked, how she felt about the character, stuff like that, without having to resort to a checklist. I like the reviews on the sites - especially since I agree with some of them, but I would love to see them put Characters : 0, Plot: 0, Writing: 0, and then say, "you know, despite all that, it was a fantastic fic."

First I picked up the book Sats sent me and a postcard fell out. Containing a picture of a cute cat hugging a teddy bear with the inscription on the back: "You know you want one." And then I find a picture of the cutest cat on Alison's totally awesome new domain Tsuriai.net (thank God she didn't call it TheEYE.net because I would have had to thwap for that.) Finally, Maria gives a little antitode about her cats being sweet and caring while she is sick. I think there's a conspiracy going on.

Metamia, it sucks about your day yesterday. I know exams are hell. I hope everything improves. Hang in there!

Ammie your fanart was AMAZING. Wowzees. I knew you drew well, but that not that well. It looks almost professional. I didn't realise Keiichi had so many earrings XD

Glad you like the pictures, Malice. I like the third picture the most. He almost looks dainty, doesn't he?

Maria, it's great having you back *hugs* I'm glad you're doing better and hope you can get back into the groove of things soon. As for dubbing Chinese movies, I ran across a dubbed version of Bride with the White Hair O.o BTW, Azure's link to is my left if you want it. She's a great girl ^___^ So who's the other person in that Karen lemon? Karen Lemon ^^ I think I love you! Kerianne, it's up to you to bring that lemon scene to the manga!

I don't know who said SXS were sexers and SXK was suckers, but I have one thing to do say to you: SXK are great swallowers as well ^_~

Lika frolicked in the snow at Saturday, December 15, 2001, 04:23 p.m.

I realise that Mandarin songs are way softer than Cantonese ones. Correction. Music from Asia is just getting softer and sleepier. I need a new CD of Chinese music. Older Cantonese ones with more kick, perferably with Anita Mui, Andy Lau, Leslie Cheung, and Faye Wong. Possibly Jackie Cheung. *cringes as another trite swells is heard* I better that new CD soon before I murder the ones my in-law brought from China.

So it snowed today at Ottawa. FINALLY! I can go shopping. You just can't shop for Christmas present unless it's snowing. I also need to blast "The Nutcracker" soundtrack throughout the house. I've been waiting months to do that! You can't play that CD without snow either. And dance to it of course :D

I have gotten addicted to the Yahoo!Messenger environment background stuffs, in particularly, the street-fighter version of paper!rocks!scissors!. Which is cool only I consistently lose. Ask Satsuki-chan (so about that dark room ^_~?). The times I would have won against her, the computer froze. Damn your BEAST! But I did manage to win last game against Kerianne ^__^ Okay, so she beat me about fifteen times, but the girl is psychic so my winning once was a big thing. And the fishtank background was cool!

I swear, Alison-dearie, you're going to HURT someone with that eye. It's a good thing you're who you are because two hours of eye puns with anyone else would have ended with murder on my part. Sure, I'll battle you at a game when my exams are exam are over. Which are tomorrow at nine in the morning if you can believe their nerve. I would be furious, but right now, I'm just happy it's almost over. *hugs her* I miss you!

I've decided to finish my degree and then go teach English in Asia. I realise if I were to go into Masters right after school, I'd drive myself mad. I know teaching is work, but it'll be a much needed change from the academic student life. I'm thinking Hong Kong right now because then I can go on a serious HKmovie VCD hunt. Wong Kar Wai and Tsui Hark here I come!

Jeannie, are you thinking of teaching overseas too? JIMMY XD Hey, Linh, how was the X game? ^_~ I love both of yours layouts.

Hey.Satsuki-chan, I miss you too! *huggles* It was great chatting to you too, even if BEAST was misbehaving. BEAST isn't jealous, is he? And I hope Maria is feeling better. Boy, do I miss her. I hope the fics are going all right and the job/house thing. I might as well hug you *grin and hugs* And one for Malice too. *hugs*

*just switched CDs* Ooh! Hakkun music! It's the closest language to my own. I think I can even make out some words. .... Um, no. Okay, switching CDs. (I'm beginning to suspect there are no songs or movies made in my language except some magic ritual chants and opera. Not that I could understand them if there were XP.)

I saw Dreadful Melody weeks ago but forgot to comment on it. It was a lot better than I expected. From the premise, I expect something hokey, but I really liked it. Brigitte Lin was excellent as usual - is she anything else? - but I like Wu Ma and Carina Lau's characters better. They were in the movie enough but people keep forgetting to mention them and always says it's a Brigitte Lin movie. Whatever. Those two stole the show for me (And Carina's master!) and I love Carina Lau. She's a great actress and does a wonderful job in whatever role she's in. I really want to see her as Lady Pet in Savior of the Soul and a hostess in Days of Being Wild. here's a description of her role in the latter: The performance by Carina is brilliant. She gives a passionate, sensual and yet ultimately fragile performance as a dance hall girl desperately in love with Leslie. She comes across as so real and such a mature full-blooded woman – there is absolutely nothing girlish about her – and you can sense that she has had her share of bad relationships and bad men. That history is written in her every look and every gesture.
Guess which soapland hostess came to my mind when I read that? *grin* And Apparently, Lady Pet is a really popular and well-liked characters amoung the HKFlicks fans.

Hey, this CD isn't bad. Older Mandarin songs. Can't my in-law's. Must be Mumsy's because my in-law prefers the newer stuff, as I would except they're so Damn Freaking SLEEPY.

One more Chinese movie comment. I realise I've been talking a lot about Chinese movies and music today, but blame it on CLAMP's December break. No Asuka. Must occupy myself with something else. I wonder how Alison is handling the withdrawal.

A Better Tomorrow: The thing I really like about John Woo is that he can get really rich characters in his action movies. IMO, his movies are a lot more violent than the American ones here (well the newer ones; the 80s was a great for action movies here) but the story isn't lost in the violence as they are in many action movies (Hong Kong ones too.) There's just so much heart in his movies. And he usually shows the relationship between guys, be it brothers or really good friends. Lovers comes and goes, but your family and buddies are always there, which is why in many instances, movies about the love between family and friends is so much more satisfying than lovers. I love the friendship between Ti Lung and Chow Yun-Fat.

I was expecting A Better Tomorrow to be more emotional than Bullet so that brought it down a little, however, the story itself is tighter and the characters are more multidimensional and extremely well acted, so I'm sure second viewing, I'll like it better. This is a movie I really recommand. I *really* like John Woo's Chow Yun-Fat. I first saw Chow Yun-Fat in Crouching Tiger and he's really bland here. With John Woo, the guy kicks. He's sauve, funny, violent, cocky, and charismatic as hell. Like Jet Li, he works better in Hong Kong movies. I love his character here, and Ti Lung's, who's a totally underrated actor. Leslie Cheung's character is annoying, but you understand where he's coming from. Plus hey, shower scene!! ^___^

Lika frolicked in the snow at Friday, December 14, 2001, 11:05 p.m.

I borrowed Moon Warriors because I'm in a Maggie Cheung and Anita Mui kick right now and because I REALLY love the songs of the movie. I remember the movie as being a total mess, but during the first viewing of the second rental, I found myself thinking, "boy, this is worse than I remembered." Around the middle, I was surprised that I actually felt the romance between Anita Mui and Andy Lau. I rented the movie the first time for Maggie Cheung and kind of ignored the parts where she wasn't in there.

Having now gotten into Anita Mui, I watched through her scenes this time around and, okay, cliche romance, doomed lovers who meet for three seconds, find out they can't be together, and angst takes over, I know, but those two are such great actors that I really got into it. The scene where she tells him she's engaged to the emporer really got to me. They never realised what was going on between them until then, and you can see it in their faces. The ending between the two was totally overmelodramatic but they pulled it off. Wow. Sometime has to be said for great acting. I'd love to see a another movie where those two play love interests. After it was over, I rewounded it and watched it again. And then again.

I don't recommand the movie at all, it's a mess, the plot is ridiculous, the dialogue is shallow and awful at times ("we're such close brothers that I follow you where ever you go" OUCH!) the whale was just dumb, Boy, was the whale ever dumb!, and it was all pathos and no substance. I watched it and insulted it and read a bunch of deservingly bad reviews on it, and even after that, I love the movie. Just totally adore it. Call me a sucker, I can't deny it. This movie is definitely my cup of tea, with cinnamon apple cake and icing ^__^

Let's end the review with why I forgive the movie for having the whale:
1. That ending music video!!! That alone is enough to make me forgive Sammu Hung for putting the seamammal in.
2. My nieces loved the scenes with the whale. Con actually asked me to borrow the movie again so she could see it.
3. Mumsy gets a kick out of the sounds the whales makes. She's never heard a whale sound before the movie and after we got it, she got me to rewind the tape over and over again so she could hear it over and over agian.
4. Humour. The ending scene with the whale was the worst possible time (one of the many flaws) because we were suppose to be into the big fight and then the whale appears and it's all reduced to comedy. But hell, you should have heard my family yell with laughter. Utterly, utterly stupid, but entertaining! The movie isn't all that great to begin with anyways, so you might as well laugh.
5. We get to see Andy Lau wet, shirtless (yeah, baby!), and wearing black pants that drips and clings to his oh-so-attractive legs and ass ^___^ (Why couldn't it be white?) He was the one of the Four Sky Kings of Cantopop who looked best in period clothes and he looked adorable here :D

Speaking of the Four Sky Kings of Cantopops, I ran across this remark on The View from Brooklyn's Bridge: that made me wonder about a few things. For example, who is it that comes up with these cool titles like the Four Sky Kings and the Four Sky Queens? Other than these two groups, there are also the “New Five Tigers”, “The Nine Dragon Girls”, “The Seven Sweeties” and ”The Seven Cantonese Princesses”.
Those Hong Kong people. You gotta love them XD It's enough to make me to move there just to say I come from a place that has The Seven Sweeties.

For those who want more information on the Four Sky Kings, I will now proceed to quote the Almighty site:

Aaron Kwok - I keep waiting for Aaron to star in a film called The Man who Loved Himself. He can't pass a mirror without doing a double take and giving himself his best star-making smile. Not too long ago he was secretly videotaped having sex with a woman and soon the tapes were being sold throughout Asia. I am surprised that he didn't buy them all up to hand them out as New Years gifts! As someone who knows nothing about Aaron Kwok except his music is the weakest of the Four Sky Kings, that certainly colors my views on him. I love it! XD All Aaron Kwok fans who want to explain the real Aaron Kwok to me, please email me. Until then, he's my new court jester. I shouldn't make fun of Aaron, but how can you not? He has been an extremely popular Idol since the early 90's but I find his screen persona to be somewhat smug and annoying and his acting talent is nearly as non-existant as an ice cube in the middle of a desert. Yeah, but like Ekin Chang, I don't watch the guy for his acting talents. I watch him because he's cute. There's also a hilarious but nasty rumour that's on the site involving him, Michelle Yeoh, and Michelle's husband. All I'm saying is if it's true (and I bet it ain't), Michelle Yeoh MUST have kicked their asses for that.

Leon Lai Ming Born in 1961 in Beijing Really? Wow. Who'd guess that song actually meant something. He has trouble emoting on screen – when he is angry in a scene – unlike many HK stars who would go into eye popping histrionics – Leon gets an annoyed look as if his room service meal has arrived cold. I need to see a movie with him and Jacky Cheung together. Just for the contrast. And when he plays a love scene, he takes on the look of a puppy dog needing to have it’s stomach scratched. SHRIEKS WITH LAUGHTER!!!! That line NEVER fails to crack me up XD XD And it is precisely his puppy dog look(s) that appeals to many a woman and can cause them to want to take him home to look after! Nah. Prefer Andy

Jacky Cheung -- As I have stated before I know next to nothing about Canto-Pop, but friends who do tell me that Jacky Cheung has perhaps the best voice of all the male singers of this form of music. Yup. Best songs too, only his songs are too soft for my taste. His singing is amazing though. Jacky is an intriguing actor – often he can overplay a character to the point where you want to yell at him to tone it down – Bullet in the Head Personally, I thought he was just fine in Bullet. But then again, I was crying too hard to make a sound judgement. in other roles he can give a terrifically personable, subtle or comical performance. Whatever he does best, I can't see him playing a lady's man, and for some reason, I've got a taste for those kind of men right now. He was perfect in Swordsman though. Not as Ling the womanizer and drunkard of course ^^

Andy Lau ^^ -- During the late 80's and the early 90's, Andy was so popular that he was literally making multiple films at the same time. He was sleeping in his car for a few hours before he would rush off to the next production. Such a shame so many of his movies were of the AWFUL variety >_< Taking this into consideration, its amazing that Lau is as good an actor as he is! After Moon Warriors, oh yeah. That he and Anita Mui could pull off those cliche roles in such a ridiculous movie as well as they do means something. And there's something about the way he looks at a woman and/or touches her face that brings out tenderness and sexual tension. I need to look for more of this guy's movie. Some of my favorites are As Tears Go By, Days of Being Wild, Saviour of the Soul, Wowzees, Wong Kar Wai and Andy Lau !!!!! Must Get! God of Gamblers, the first A Moment of Romance, Moon Warriors Definitely Moon Warriors

Hee. Can you tell I'm really liking this site? I should have plugged this place earlier. It is without a doubt the best Hong Kong movie website out there. The amount of information is enormous, the birthdates of the stars, what movies they are in, LOTS of pictures for you to go through, and the movie reviews are awesome, even if I did vehemently disagree with them on The East is Red (Hated the movie!) They have top 10 lists, some really hilarious blurbs on the stars, and always some juicy gossip or a wry comment to make. I never for my life thought someone would put so much work into a site for Hong Kong movies, but I'm glad these people did. THEY RULE!!!

For Ammie, aka Moon Kitty, Measles, Daisuke’s Little Puppy, Keiichi’s Brain, Imelda Marcos, the person responsible for Watership Down slash ^__^ And don’t we love you for it.

Starting with the stuff on your sidebar: Is there a Howl under all those bubbles in the washroom?; slashingblondboys mean Yuuto/Nokoru? share your love for comic shops (hello Jeannie!) ; Bring Tokyo Tower and Sakura Board to Space! ; Daisuke, GREAT fuck yeah

Enjoy Fire and Hemlock, dear! I love Cat. He kind of reminds me Kamui, only blond. And blond is always good. Mmm… Howl. I want that animation NOW. Also sent a bunch of HMC to people for Christmas. I realise Watership Down is long…. and rabbits… and well, yeah, the rabbits, but try to read Howl.

One’s a domestic dream, the other a hot-tempered boy and the last a vegetable. I don’t see the connection, except for one about pop and son making dinner, and it’s totally wrong. However, if Fujitaka started wearing an Octopus tie, you might really want to marry him. And here’s a fic idea: Daisuke/Keiichi lemon with the tie. You knew Keiichi was a SMBD leather daddy in disguise! XD *glares at Alison* It was her idea, no matter what she says, it’s HER fault.

Canadian so don’t have a British accent! And Quinn will have the NZ and the the British one from his mom, which is really cool ^_^ (BTW, the German one is especially adorable). He’s just destined for good things. Like manipulating wind. Just don’t donate him to a dreamseer!

I want to see the Yuuto vs. McGonagall fight, even if the original picture of McGonagall was a younger Morticia Adamsy one, and then we have Yuuto fall in love with her. The making-old of McGonagall will forever break my heart. Damn you Rowling, I was going to turn her into a sex goddess and you pull a Marilla Cuthbert on me. As for this: Bigwig vs. the White Rabbit (Bigwig) *coughSLASHcough* XD O.o To think this whole time, I was the one who started the bunnyslash O.o

And finally, that 500 line essay you wanted on Keiichi:
When I first laid eyes on Keiichi, I thought he was Yuuto. I also thought Daisuke and Nokoru was Yuuto. And I kept wondering why Yuuto looked so different all the damn time. My knowledge in dragons left much to be desired. Then Daisuke lost his head and I saw a picture of Keiichi afterwards. I thought, even those people are immortal and can’t be killed, or they are two separate people. Eventually, I went with the they are two separate people.

I got my info about Keiichi from the internet because I can’t read Japanese if my life depends on it and let’s hope it never does. There I found out the spiky blond boy with the big happy smile was named Keiichi Segawa. He had a crush on Kamui, chased him around campus, was sexually harrassing him, and called him a pretty boy. Note, some information were blown out of proportion.

Keiichi doesn’t have a crush on Kamui. He likes Kamui, he wants to make Kamui happy, but he wants to make everyone happy. Keiichi is the kind of boy who can give a pair of briefs back to Kamui (Kamui is so briefs, not boxers) without it meaning anything more than returning the briefs. All with a smile on his face.

And don’t the manga need that smile? Like flowers need water on a hot day. It’s refreshing to have someone who’s involved in the angst but not angsting. Someone said he represented the normal people not involved with the whole dragon, and that doesn’t work because I have more in common with Karen than I do with him. He’s too cheerful and copes with the diasters around him far too easily to represent the rest of humanity. He is the part of the humanity that keeps on going when things gets rough. He misses his parents and feel sad for all the things that’s happening around, but he doesn’t let it stop him from living and making other people happy.

There are times when you’re feeling really rotten and happy people only make you feel worse, but he’s different. There’s something about his happiness, a genuine love and appreciation for life and others that makes it forgivable. Kind of like Ammie, who when I’m feeling rotten, if she’s happy and cheerful, I like her being happy because it suits her and makes me happy knowing she’s happy.

Keiichi is fun because he’s so cheerful and sweet, and because he gets himself into, um, interesting situations and positions with Kamui that you can snicker and have fun with it, but it’s all in harmless fun. Situations like that are usually more fun when you don’t have a crush on the person and it just happens. Like Mulder and Scully in early X Files. How I miss UST. The perfect relationship untainted by thoughts of love and relationship, and it just happens and you get up, dusts yourself off, and laugh.

Now about those seashell bras… his seashell bras… did you know that when I spellchecked the word Seishirou I got seashell… Seishirou br….Okay, that’s it for the Keiichi rant for now as Lika has turn into a gibbering idiot. Move along folks, there’s nothing to see here.

Maria, if I swear if I catch you online before your illness is over, I will strangle you. Stay offline and get plenty of rest! Pneumonia is serious stuff. Please take Very Good Care of Yourself and I hope you feel better soon.

Malice, your brother is a bastard. Sorry to hear that you're going through such a bad week. I hope the whole fiasco ends soon.

I got my Christmas bonus in the mail yesterday. Last year my Christmas bonus was $2.45. I guess they were making up for it because it was $600.00 more this year, much to my delight. Only I went to do my British Lit exam and I didn't remember 90% of the quotes in front of me. Bombed it. Followed by getting my essay back and OUCH. The Christmas bonus will be used to pay for $900 summer classes, as I am sure I will have to redo British Liteature during vacation. Ain't that life, you gain some, you lose even more XD And I have a Chaucer essay tonight that I'm not ready for. On the bright side, I got cookies from Japan! *megahugs Sarai* You rock, my girl *hugshugshugs*

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! Try not to throw any more things at Firath. I am in love with John Woo big time (A Better Tomorrow!!!). Ammie is getting me Eight Days of Luke! *happy dance* HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE IS BEING ANIMATED! Whoo hoo! And Maria's last blog entry was hilarious, especially this line, I don't know who they think they're fooling...ain't nothing in the world gonna make that stuff taste good. Okie, am off to do more essay/exams stuff. Bah! Get to the rest of emailing and social blogging and stuff in a couple of days or so. School is such a plague right now.

Lika frolicked in the snow at Sunday, December 9, 2001, 01:58 p.m.

Rants were too depressing to put with social blogging. They were written last night when I was feeling stressed out. I'm much happier now. Christmas shopping planned on Saturday (Gift Certificates for everyone!), Shakespeare essay is done, and I got my hands on A Better Tomorrow *beams* And Angel is on tonight.

Metamia: You need to sleep more! Glad you got the Keeper List up. I wish I had a copy of Yami no Matsuei, though I want Saiyuki and Naruto more. Must figure out how to download scanlations.

Malice: I don't mind feathers. Escaflowne had feathers and they were cool. But comparing the ratio between feathers and Sakura Petals, you're right, you have the bigger grievance. And it's about time you got to the second chapter of that TB/CGS crossover.

Jenni : Sister and I were screaming at the Red and the Black. Actually, Mulder/Krycek was the thing that got me into slash in the first place, though sometimes, I wonder if that was a good thing. Scully/Krycek is just !!!!! It's like Buffy/Spike. Wait a minute...

Jeannie: Sorry about the delay, but I love the layout you made for Linh. So festive! Tell me you're a Christmas freak. I'm one of those people who lives for Christmas so it would be fun to have someone to get into the holiday spirit with. If only it would snow! Though I'm not stupid not to enjoy the warm weather. I took my coat off and went running down the streets. The fog last night was pretty. My brother had to drive me to the university near midnight and it was really haunting. I love Ottawa. Okay, your place for the holiday so I can see what who this YodA is. Mind if I bring a friend? (Hello again, Lany ^_~)

Linh: "Wish that I could stay" is a good choice to dance on the streets in, but I would choose "I'll never tell". When things get roughy, he hides behind his Buffy, and look he's getting huffy because he knows that I know :D

Maria: If it means anything to you, I check your blog daily and cheer when you write something in it. You're not dull, and I like it when you discuss fanfic and adultery and the horror of unpacking. It's always fun to read! As for the school thing, I've came this far and I'll finish it. Still will advise all kids in high school to think carefully about university and whether or not it is really what they want.

Ali: I'm so impressed that you can take stress so well. When things go wrong for me, I get upset and frustrated and angry, but you're always so sweet and controlled. I admire that so much. And it's not that I don't like Subaru anymore. I'm just not feeling the love for him as I once did. But hey, CLAMP still has a few more volumes of X to do so maybe he'll get interesting again.

Ammie: I owe you a whole blog entry dedicated to toi. Expect it before my birthday. Still working on that 500 characters (you did say characters and not LINES, right?) essay on Keiichi, sans the seashell bras XD

No, I did not see Buffy on Tuesday. Some cute blond rich boy from Ukraine who owns a gorgeous black car called me up to study French with him and a sweet girl named Karen (!) -- actually, they begged me. Neither of them has been class and since I have been to class and can tell the different between Tu vient d'ou and Tu habite ou, they needed me to help them pass the French oral. Now I have to wait until Saturday for Buffy *wails* I was so looking forward to a Tuesday where I could relax on my couch and watch both Buffy and Angel in succession. But the studying was a lot of fun, and I got a drive around the downtown area in the cool black car ^____^

As promised, the rants. Social blogging to follow this one shortly.

1. Let me explain how Christianity works. We sin, meaning do stuff God doesn't like, for example, swearing, lying, stealing, not obeying our parents, believe in Buddhism, Pagans, athiesm, etc. and because we sin, we fall from God and therefore we go to hell. The way out of hell is to believe in Jesus Christ, accept his salvation, and we then live the life of a born-again Christian. Now if God is willing to send people to hell for lying or for believing in Pagans, and Christians are still able to consider him a loving God inspite of that, how can they think that God won't send people to hell for practising homosexuality, particularly when he condemns homosexuality in the Bible? Say God is Love all you want, one cannot forget he is a God of judgement too.

2. There are good points about war. Read the wonderful Candian author Gabrielle Roy's book "The Tin Flute." Highly recommanded. The book is about this poor family of ten who are so down on their luck that having a child die is a good thing because it means that child is "pass suffering." The book shows how dehumanising poverty can be, particularly if you're female and pregnant, and how little society really cares about them. They do get out of poverty and their salvation, beautifully enough, is the second world war. Sending their men off to war brings in money, a good house, escape, and stability for the family. So you see, war can be good. Well, I guess the moral of the book could have been how much society sucks if the only way out of poverty for people is send their sons and husbands off to kill and be killed, but, nah.

3. DELETED. Me is idiot, pretend it was never written.

One note before I get social, some people have a book/movie pair where they've read the book and seen the movie a few dozen times. Also goes for mangas and anime. My pair would be The Sweet Hereafter. The movie is actually superior to the book but they're both excellent. Russell Banks creates character that are complex, realistic, and not altogether likable (Remember Sara Louise Bradshaw from Jacob Have I Love? Whiny, self-absorped, jealous little brat who only a handful of people, such as myself, adored.) Mitchell Stephens is a lawyer, and after John Grisham 1-D lawyers, he's a relief. He's angry, really really pissed off, and a total creep in how he immediately judges people, but he's one of the few guys who understands the situation, which is that fourteen children has been killed on a school bus and it's an accident. Of course no one wants to accept that it's an accident and they have to blame someone, the bus driver, the city, destiny (yeah, destiny) somebody. It's a fascinating look at morality and at how badly society needs the bullshit called closure. It's also a candid look at how important children are. I take my nieces to school, and I sit there watching the kids run into the playground and the parents there giving them a kiss good-bye and it's like, "how would you manage if that child was taken away from you? If you could no longer bring them to school and kiss before they run into class?" It's such a creepy book on that level. Okay, I need a new book/movie pair. Much Ado About Nothing. Let's talk about that scene where Prince and co. suckers Benedick and Beatrice into falling in love *^___^*
