I'm bummed now. I'm mad, and disappointed and crushed. Not with the book per se. It was a bloody good book, (but I still maintain that Diana Wynne-Jones is a better author of the magic thing) and some fun scenes that made me laugh made up for the gloomgloomgloom of the beginning, and I screamed and squealed with delight over any scene with Snape in it and sighed like a Middle Schooler with a crush whenever he curled his lips or spoke softly (!) And there was so many things to love about it, mostly Snape/Sirius/Luna/Ginny related, and I love the story itself. Hell, Snape alone was worth it, and the main reason why I'm devotely an entire achive to the book - that, and I'm a sucker when it comes to hype. But I feel vaguely dissatisfied. And this weird mixture of anger and heartbreak and I just want to rip someone's head off.
Linh, are you working today? I need to vent.

SEVERUS SNAPE IS THE SEXIEST MAN ALIVE.
He can probe my mind and insult me and make me call him sir whenever he wants.

*SQUEALS!*
Got my Snape and Sirius scene *falls over giggling* Talk about Unresolved Sexual Tension! I mean, yeah, I know they can't stand each other, but that scene just crackled for me. Linh, it's nothing like Draco/Harry. Sirius and Snape are working on the same side, for one. And it's not about the squabbling. It's about the possibility of them getting over their hatred, seeing the good in the other person (what good could Harry could see in Draco?), becoming grim friends, and then let the UST take over :)
And the fact that they're both my favorite characters and I just want my pretty, hot tempered, snarling boys together :D:D:D:D

I want to bear Snape's children. He has so much presence and menance and complexities and he makes Harry Potter's life miserable.
MacGonagall KICKS ASS. I always admired her (and still pissed off that her age killed the McGonagall/Snape dream I originally had), but wow, she totally outdid herself with how she's handling Harry, the Ministry, and Umbridge (that biatch.)
Ginny, surprising, kicks ass. I love her feistiness, her temper, her enthusiasm, her dating boys. She's not the shy, not-talking girl of the earlier books, and much improved for it. She's turning out to be a favorite of mine.
Say it with me: Luna Lovegood rocks.
Sirius is so cool! Reckless, angsty, impatient, rebellious. I hope someone clears his name because the thought of him living with Kreacher for another minute drives me mad. And will someone smack Hermione if she stands up for Kreacher. Frith, girl, the elf is a demon.
Still love Percy. OK, so he's working for that retarted Ministry, but the thing is he believes he's doing the right thing. I just hope he dooesn't go evil, and hell, I hope his not-kissing-Harry'sAss actually does the Order some good.
I'm engrossed with the book, but its gloom upon gloom upon gloom upon gloom upon gloom upon gloom upon gloom is starting to royally piss me off. I miss the sense of wonder and magic in the first three books, when Hogwarts was a place I wanted to be in. Now I'm screaming at the characters to get out, screw OWLS, and get laid if it's such a shitty place to be. McGonagall and Dumbledore et. al being unable to help Harry as he's being abused by Umbridge is frustrating. Nelville not being able to beat the shit out of the people who are mocking the hell that his parents went through is frustrating. McGonagall, bless her temper and sternness, being smack done by Umbridge is causing me to see red everywhere. I know, Ministry of Magic and all that crap, but I'm starting to wish Dumbledore would give up headmastership, everyone flees Hogwarts and get together to tear the stupid Ministry apart. They're powerful enough. Or not. Whatever. I'm just find it frustrating when characters I can't stand make the good guys suffer and the good guys can't do anything about it. It's all right with Snape, hell, it's fun with him, but Umbridge's "can't stop her" stance sucks the fun out of it.
Which is not to say I'm not enjoying the book. I'm loving it, and I loving the characters, I savored that fleeting moment of fun and triumph regarding the DA *SPARKLES!* and I'm dying to know what happens next, I'm just pissed off when reading. Which isn't necessary a bad thing.
